Our Story...
Armed with a sketchbook and camera, founder Suzan Meijer travelled from India and Vietnam to Marrakesh and Cairo, searching for inspiration, craftsmanship, and meaningful partnerships. Along the way, she discovered not only extraordinary beauty, but also an uncomfortable reality: while women created the most beautiful pieces, they rarely received the recognition or opportunities they deserved.
This sparked a simple yet powerful question: What if we worked only with women? What if we placed them in the spotlight and gave them the opportunity to learn, create, and thrive?
And so, StoryDress was born.
Today, we proudly collaborate with women empowerment organisations in India and Egypt. These talented women are the heart behind every creation. Together, we create unique pieces filled with colour, craftsmanship, love, and joy — empowering women, one dress at a time.
We hope wearing your StoryDress brings you as much joy as creating it brought us.
Our Founder

Hi, I’m Suzan Meijer, the founder of StoryDress. My friends often joke that I’m never at home, always somewhere far away chasing stories and seeking inspiration. -I am a storyteller at heart, always drawn to the beauty of different cultures.
But this journey has a purpose. What started as a deep curiosity to see the world became something much bigger—a mission to empower women in developing countries through meaningful projects.
This journey has been anything but easy. There have been challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt. But it has also been a journey of connection, resilience, and incredible transformation. I have seen women embrace new skills, gain confidence, and step into their power. The biggest reward has been seeing women rise, rebuild, and reclaim their futures—not because we gave them charity, but because we offered them the tools and skills to do it themselves.
✨ Together, we are creating change—one stitch, one dress, one woman at a time. ✨
Our values:
Every woman working for StoryDress receives a training in tailoring and works in a safe, supportive atelier. The women earn twice the average salary of a man in the same country, which not only gives them financial stability but also a great sense of pride, accomplishment, and independence. Next to financial security, it is the wellbeing and growth of the women that is our top priority. From entrepreneurship training to providing dental care and helping them navigate challenges at home. With this helping hand, these women blossom into powerful, strong women who can provide for themselves. And the empowerment is carried over to their children and communities, creating a ripple effect of change.
